Russia asserts control over two additional settlements in eastern Ukraine.

On Sunday, Russia announced it had gained control of two more settlements in eastern Ukraine.

According to a statement from the Defense Ministry, Russian forces captured the village of Yantarne, located approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) southwest of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region.

Moscow claimed it had seized the front-line town of Kurakhove earlier in the week. However, Kyiv disputes this, asserting that its forces still control the western outskirts of the city, including the thermal power plant.

The ministry also reported that Russian forces had taken the village of Kalynove, situated around eight kilometers (five miles) north of Kupiansk, a key front in Russia’s offensive in the northeastern Kharkiv region.

Ukrainian authorities have yet to comment on these claims, and independent verification remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
