Water tankers claim the lives of three bike-riders in Karachi

In two separate incidents on Friday, three individuals lost their lives after being run over by water tankers in Karachi, according to local police reports.

The first incident occurred on Shaheed-i-Millat Road, where a water tanker struck and killed two motorcyclists near Tipu Sultan Bridge. The victims were identified as Syed Noman and Israr Ahmed. A third person was also injured in the accident, but their identity remains unknown. Following the tragedy, an angry crowd gathered at the scene and set the water tanker on fire. However, area residents were able to control the flames before the fire department arrived. The driver of the tanker, Shahzad Ali Shah, fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. The Ferozabad Police, led by SHO Inam Husain Junejo, registered a case against Shah, with the complaint filed by the brother of the deceased Israr Ahmed. Police are investigating rash driving as the likely cause of the crash.

In the second incident, another tragic death occurred on National Highway near Ghaghar Phatak. A motorcyclist named Saeed was killed when he was struck by a water tanker. Steel Town Police SHO Adeel Shah mentioned that the victim’s family reached a settlement with the driver, and no legal action was pursued in this case.

Both incidents have highlighted the growing concerns over reckless driving and road safety in Karachi, with the authorities urging greater vigilance to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
