No Negotiation Meeting Request, Says Ayaz Sadiq

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly, addressed concerns regarding the ongoing negotiations between the government and the opposition, stating that neither side had made a formal request to arrange a meeting for discussions.

During his remarks, Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that organizing a meeting between the negotiation committees of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister Imran Khan was the responsibility of the government, not his own. He made it clear that the decision to hold such a meeting rested with the government and its allies.

Sadiq further stated that if both the government and opposition parties expressed their willingness, he would be prepared to facilitate a meeting within a day or two. However, he reiterated that no official request had been received from either party to set up such discussions.

He also reflected on his communication with PTI leader Asad Qaiser on January 4, noting that PTI had asked for a meeting with Imran Khan. He assured that he had passed this request along to the government but also pointed out that PTI leaders could engage directly with government representatives such as Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to facilitate further dialogue.

Sadiq’s comments shed light on the complexities of the ongoing political talks, where both sides are still evaluating the possibility of negotiations. His remarks indicated a willingness to assist in bridging communication gaps, provided both sides express a formal interest in holding discussions.
