Punjab is poised to make a historic move with the launch of its first-ever ‘Dhi Rani Program,’ a groundbreaking initiative under which 1,500 couples will celebrate their weddings in a single day across the province.
The program will be officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who is set to attend a mass wedding ceremony in Lahore, where 50 couples will tie the knot. This large-scale event is a part of the government’s initiative to support families facing financial challenges during the wedding process.
The Punjab government has allocated a substantial budget of PKR 1 billion for the program, which will initially facilitate 3,000 weddings. As part of the program’s benefits, each couple will be gifted essential household items, including furniture, to help them start their married lives comfortably. Furthermore, a cash gift of PKR 100,000 will be provided to every newlywed couple, a gesture to alleviate the financial strain associated with marriage.
In addition to the wedding gifts, the Chief Minister will launch the ‘Dhi Rani Card,’ a tool through which newly married couples can receive their cash gift of PKR 100,000.
This program is designed to assist underprivileged families, reduce the financial burdens of marriage, and create a positive social impact by promoting financial support and dignity for the couples. The ‘Dhi Rani Program’ is expected to play a significant role in social welfare and women empowerment across Punjab.
