ATC delays decision on acquittal requests of Omar Ayub and others in May 9 cases

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Sargodha has reserved its ruling on the acquittal pleas filed by opposition leader Omar Ayub and other political figures in connection with six cases related to the events of May 9.

The cases, registered in Mianwali, involve key political figures such as Punjab Assembly opposition leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, Aliya Hamza, and Sanam Javed. More than 150 accused individuals from various regions attended the court session.

Defense attorneys argued in favor of acquitting Omar Ayub, Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, Aliya Hamza, Sanam Javed, and Bilal Ejaz Chattha. After the arguments concluded, the court granted their requests for exemption from this hearing but instructed them to attend the next session.

The hearing was adjourned until January 17, when further proceedings will take place.
