Unknown assailants attacked the residence of Balochistan’s Finance and Mineral Resources Minister, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, with a hand grenade in his hometown of Kharan late Thursday night.
Police reported that the attackers, riding motorcycles, hurled the grenade at the house located on Jangle Road and fled the scene. The grenade exploded near the main gate, causing some damage to the gate but no casualties. Several windowpanes were shattered, but the minister was not present in Kharan at the time.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
In a separate event, the residence of the deputy commissioner of Kalat was also targeted with a grenade on Thursday night, injuring a police constable.
Additionally, unknown motorcyclists threw a grenade at a police station in Hub’s industrial area. The explosion occurred at the station’s gate, though the nearby police guards were unharmed. The blast did, however, damage the station’s windowpanes.
