Kriti Sanon Remembers Emotional Breakdown While Shooting Mimi, Says “I Kept Crying Even After the Cut”

Kriti Sanon, known for her memorable roles in films like Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Ulja Jiya, Crew, and her debut production Do Patti, has consistently delivered impactful performances over the years. One of her most notable roles came in the 2021 drama Mimi, where she played a surrogate mother—a role that won her a National Award for Best Actress.

In a recent podcast, Kriti shared the emotional toll one particular scene in Mimi had on her. She recalled an intense moment when, after the director called “cut,” she continued crying. Describing the scene, she said, “It’s one of my favorite shots of the film. The scene required so much emotional investment, and something magical happened during it. For the first time, even after the cut, I kept crying—something I never expected would happen to me.”

Her portrayal of a surrogate mother navigating the complexities of motherhood and sacrifice resonated deeply with audiences, earning her critical acclaim and several awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics) and a National Award.

Kriti’s performance in Mimi also earned accolades for her co-stars, including Pankaj Tripathi and Saie Tamhankar, who won Filmfare and National Awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively.
