Pakistan launches first locally made Ventilator and Nebulizer

Pakistan has achieved significant milestones in technological innovation with the launch of its first locally-produced ventilator and the development of the world’s smallest rechargeable nebulizer.

The ventilator, developed under the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative to promote local technology, was unveiled by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal. Commending the private company behind this achievement, Iqbal hailed it as a “champion of Uraan Pakistan” and called for collective efforts to drive innovation and reshape Pakistan’s global image as the nation approaches its centenary in 2047.

He highlighted the importance of embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution and implementing long-term reforms to enhance technological and economic growth. The minister outlined ambitious targets, including increasing exports to $100 billion over the next decade, and urged the private sector to spearhead advancements in agriculture, industry, and technology.

In another remarkable achievement, students from the University of Karachi’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences have developed the world’s smallest rechargeable nebulizer. This portable device offers a convenient solution for patients with asthma and other respiratory conditions, making it ideal for travel or workplace use.

The student team, comprising Abdul Rehman Siddiqui, Taha Ishaq, Syed Wali Uddin, Syeda Arshiya, Zohaib Salman, Maham Zaidi, Priyan Khan, and Tuba Saleem, designed the compact nebulizer to overcome the challenges posed by traditional bulky devices. Their innovation provides an efficient and practical way for patients to manage respiratory issues amid growing concerns about pollution and health.

These advancements highlight Pakistan’s increasing capabilities in technological self-reliance and innovation, pointing towards a bright future for the nation’s tech and healthcare sectors.
