The Islamabad District and Sessions Court has ordered the arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with a case involving the illegal possession of arms and liquor.
The court, led by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti, expressed frustration over the absence of both Gandapur and his lawyer, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, during the hearing. Additionally, the SSP Operations failed to submit a compliance report regarding a previous arrest warrant against the Chief Minister, exacerbating the situation.
Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti criticized the ongoing failure to appear, emphasizing the gravity of the case. “The failure to comply with the court’s orders is unacceptable,” he stated.
As a result, the court directed the SSP Operations to ensure Gandapur’s immediate arrest and appearance in court for the next hearing on January 21, 2025. The court warned that any further non-compliance would not be tolerated. The case, which involves allegations of illegal arms and liquor possession, has stirred considerable legal and political controversy, drawing attention to the accountability process for senior political figures.
