The Punjab Department of Environmental Protection has ramped up its crackdown on illegal plastic use, confiscating 40 tons of plastic since June last year.
Senior Minister Punjab Maryam Aurangzeb revealed that the seized plastic will be recycled to produce chairs for primary school children in Lahore and Faisalabad. A play area made from recycled plastic has already been completed at Lahore’s Model Bazaar, and benches and chairs are being provided to government offices and hospitals.
This initiative is a key component of the government’s efforts to enforce a strict plastic ban across Punjab while promoting sustainable recycling practices.
