Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Thursday that the Serena underpass will be finished within the next five days, though it will only open to traffic after the sewer work is completed. The project’s original deadline was set for January 5.
A statement from the interior ministry highlighted that work on the Serena Chowk Interchange, which includes three underpasses, is being carried out around the clock.
The statement further noted that Minister Naqvi visited the project site and instructed that it be completed on time. He also reviewed and approved the beautification plan for Serena Chowk, directing that sewer work be finished immediately.
Naqvi acknowledged that the project had experienced a 10-day delay at the start but emphasized that efforts should be intensified to meet the set deadline. During his visit, he inspected the construction progress and urged that work be accelerated. He also directed that all available resources be utilized for the project’s timely completion.
The minister requested that the project’s surroundings be adorned with plants and flowers, and stressed the importance of preserving the trees in the area.
At the event, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefed Naqvi on the construction activities. The Rs4.2 billion project, which includes the 9th Avenue development, was initiated with the foundation stone laid by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on November 5. The project was initially scheduled for completion in 60 days by January 5.
