Kriti Sanon shares her thoughts on the reality of award functions

Kriti Sanon Shares Her Thoughts on the Current State of Award Functions

Kriti Sanon had a successful 2024, with several hit releases and her OTT debut as a producer. Both her commercial films Teri Baaton Main Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew were well-received, while her OTT project Do Patti garnered critical acclaim.

In a recent conversation with podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, Kriti candidly discussed her views on contemporary Indian award shows. She compared them to the simpler times of the ’90s, pointing out that the authenticity has diminished, as award functions are now driven by PR.

She remarked, “In the 90s, there were only two or three award shows. Now, every platform has one. It makes me wonder, how much does it really matter? I feel it’s all PR-driven now.”

Kriti also reflected on how attending award functions used to be more relaxed, with glamour taking a backseat to true artistic recognition. She mentioned that actors would often wear outfits from their own wardrobes, without the pressure of designer labels or judgment about their appearance. “Back then, actors sometimes showed up in denim and t-shirts,” she recalled.

Sharing her thoughts on potential changes, Kriti expressed a desire to see more authenticity in award shows and a shift away from the current trend.
