Mbappé to real Madrid, Osimhen to Galatasaray among Top 2024 football transfers

The summer of 2024 witnessed remarkable football transfers, including Kylian Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid and Victor Osimhen’s surprising loan to Galatasaray.

On June 3, Mbappé, the French World Cup winner, left Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, which the club confirmed shortly after their UEFA Champions League victory. Although his early performances with Madrid faced criticism, he scored 14 goals and made 4 assists in 24 appearances.

Real Madrid also made headlines with the signing of Brazilian teen Endrick, securing the 18-year-old from Palmeiras for €47.5 million on July 27.

In September, Osimhen, one of the world’s most sought-after forwards, made a shocking move to Galatasaray on loan from Napoli. The 26-year-old Nigerian’s market value stood at €100 million when he joined, and his loan deal runs until June 30, 2025. Osimhen quickly became a fan favorite at Galatasaray, scoring 12 goals and providing 5 assists in 15 matches.

Atletico Madrid also made a splash with a record €75 million transfer for Argentine forward Julian Alvarez from Manchester City on August 12. Alvarez, who helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup, scored 36 goals for City before joining Atletico, where he continued his impressive form, netting 12 goals in 26 matches.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich secured French right-back Sacha Boey from Galatasaray for €30 million on January 28, and Brighton & Hove Albion made several high-profile signings, including Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce for €15 million on August 27.

Bayern Munich spent €170 million in 2024 to strengthen their squad with players like Michael Olise, Joao Palhinha, Hiroki Ito, and Bryan Zaragoza.
