Severe cold wave sweeps across the country

A severe cold wave continues to sweep across the country, with snowfall covering northern regions in a picturesque blanket of white.

In Skardu, snowfall that began yesterday shows no signs of stopping, pushing temperatures well below freezing. Road access to the Astor region has been cut off, complicating travel amid the heavy snow.

The scenic snowfall has attracted tourists to Neelum Valley, while in Azad Kashmir’s Leepa Valley, the intense cold has caused major disruptions to daily life. Northern Balochistan is also enduring severe cold conditions.

Temperatures in various areas have dropped to freezing levels, with Leh recording -13°C, Gopis -10°C, and Skardu -9°C. Gilgit saw -7°C, while Astor and Hunza experienced -6°C. Kalam and Quetta recorded temperatures as low as -5°C.
