Seven senators elected unopposed from Punjab

Following behind-the-scenes negotiations among Pakistan’s major parties, seven candidates from Punjab secured Senate seats without contest after five withdrew their nominations. Four PML-N, two PTI-Sunni Ittehad Council alliance, and one independent candidate backed by PML-N and PPP were elected uncontested. In Sindh, 21 candidates are vying for 12 seats after 14 withdrew. Balochistan saw 13 candidates contesting for 11 seats after 20 withdrew, with some expected to win unopposed. Six withdrew from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving 16 candidates for seven seats. In Islamabad, four candidates are contesting for two seats. These developments indicate intricate political maneuvering within Pakistan’s electoral landscape.
