Dense fog blanketed the plains of Punjab, including Lahore, overnight between Sunday and Monday, causing significant disruption to daily life and road traffic.
The heavy fog drastically reduced visibility, affecting vehicle movement in several cities. According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, multiple motorway sections were closed due to poor visibility, including:
- Motorway M2: Lahore to Hiran Minar
- Motorway M3: Faizpur to Darkhana
- Motorway M4: Pindi Bhattian to Multan
- Motorway M5: Shershah to Zahir Pir
Drivers were advised to use the Grand Trunk (GT) Road as an alternative route. The Motorway Police also urged motorists to drive cautiously, reduce speed, and use fog lights.
Authorities further requested the public to limit travel to essential purposes and stay indoors whenever possible. Dense fog also disrupted traffic on the National Highway at various points due to reduced visibility.
