Pakistani Forces Successfully Prevent Khorasan Terrorist Infiltration at Pak-Afghan Border
Pakistani security forces effectively foiled an infiltration attempt by the Khorasan faction of Khawarij terrorists along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to sources, a group of 20 to 25 terrorists attempted to cross into Pakistan from Kurram and North Waziristan during the night of December 27-28, utilizing Afghan Taliban border posts. Swift action by Pakistani forces thwarted the incursion.
On the morning of December 28, the Khawarij terrorists, in coordination with the Afghan Taliban, launched an unprovoked attack on Pakistani border posts using heavy weaponry. Pakistani forces retaliated decisively, inflicting significant losses.
Preliminary reports indicate that over 15 Khawarij and Afghan Taliban fighters were killed, with several others injured during the counteroffensive. The Afghan Taliban were forced to retreat, abandoning six border posts in the process.
Security officials highlighted Pakistan’s repeated calls to Afghanistan’s interim government to prevent the Khorasan faction from using Afghan soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan. Despite these appeals, the Afghan Taliban has continued to support these groups instead of taking measures to control them.
The Khorasan faction is believed to operate freely within Afghanistan, leveraging its territory to orchestrate anti-Pakistan actions.
Pakistani security forces reaffirmed their readiness and capability to respond decisively to any aggression.
