Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif on Thursday criticized the federal government for remaining silent in the face of escalating violence in Kurram Agency.
In a forceful statement, Saif accused federal authorities of neglecting the region, stating, “The government is treating Kurram Agency as if it were part of Afghanistan, not Pakistan.” He further criticized the government for promoting racial profiling and sectarian tensions, pointing out the lack of intervention from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi beyond Islamabad’s jurisdiction.
Saif also took aim at Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, accusing him of using inflammatory rhetoric, while highlighting the federal government’s failure to address the concerns of Kurram’s residents amid ongoing unrest.
In contrast, Saif praised KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur for his proactive approach, notably for providing his helicopter to assist those affected by the violence. As the situation in Kurram Agency remains tense, calls are growing for more federal involvement to restore peace and security to the region.
