Imad Wasim announces retirement from International cricket career

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has officially announced his retirement from international cricket, concluding a remarkable career on the global stage. The 35-year-old shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), reflecting on the journey and the decision.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to retire from international cricket,” Imad wrote. “Representing Pakistan has been the greatest honor of my life. Every moment in the green jersey is etched in my memory forever.”

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, which he credited as his source of motivation through challenges and triumphs. While stepping away from the international arena, Imad confirmed his plans to continue playing in domestic and franchise cricket.

This announcement comes after Imad briefly retired in November 2023, a decision he reversed following an outstanding performance in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, which earned him a recall for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Imad made his international debut in May 2015 and played 55 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 75 T20 Internationals (T20Is), amassing 1,540 runs with six half-centuries and taking 117 wickets across both formats. A standout moment of his career was his pivotal role in Pakistan’s triumphant 2017 ICC Champions Trophy campaign under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s leadership.

Imad’s last appearance for Pakistan came during a T20 World Cup match against Ireland. As he steps into the next phase of his cricket journey, he looks forward to continuing his contributions in domestic and franchise leagues.
