Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb underscored the importance of collaboration, consistent policies, and targeted reforms to maximize the potential of Pakistan’s Information Technology sector. Chairing a high-level meeting of the Prime Minister’s Committee on IT Export Remittances in Islamabad, he highlighted the sector’s crucial role in driving economic growth and generating foreign exchange through export remittances.
The meeting explored key challenges and opportunities, emphasizing the need to streamline capital movement processes to boost IT export remittances. Participants noted that while IT exports are on the rise, a significant portion of revenue remains unremitted. Recommendations included simplifying procedures, maintaining consistent tax exemptions for freelancers, and resolving classification issues for remote workers and small IT firms to create a more business-friendly environment.
