The World Health Organization (WHO) director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed shock and sympathy on Thursday following recent attacks in North Darfur that claimed at least 80 lives and left hundreds injured.
Calling the violence “shocking,” Tedros extended the UN agency’s condolences to the affected communities in Kabkabiya. He also highlighted that health facilities in Darfur are struggling to meet medical needs, with many suffering from non-functional equipment and critical shortages of supplies.
“Earlier this month, WHO was able to deliver trauma and surgical supplies to help treat the injured and prevent further loss of life,” Tedros said in a post on X.
