Zardari urges boost in Chinese investment in Pakistan’s economy

President Asif Ali Zardari has called for an increase in Chinese investment in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy, stressing the potential for strengthening economic and commercial relations between the two countries.

In a meeting with a Chinese business delegation led by Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong, Zardari emphasized the need for enhanced economic cooperation. He stated that greater Chinese investment would not only boost bilateral trade but also contribute to Pakistan’s overall economic development.

The Chinese delegation expressed keen interest in investing one billion dollars to establish a medical city in Pakistan, aiming to improve the country’s healthcare infrastructure. They also showed interest in sectors like agriculture, livestock, energy, transport, and manufacturing.

President Zardari highlighted the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and China and shared his vision for the development of Gwadar Port as a regional trade hub, which would improve connectivity and foster regional trade growth.
