The School Education Department has launched a plan to gradually retire senior teachers by collecting data on those interested in voluntary retirement. District Education Authorities have been instructed to gather and submit this information.
The department is specifically seeking details on teachers aged 50 and 55, as well as those with 25 years of service. Required information includes each teacher’s date of birth, current posting, designation, and educational qualifications.
Emphasizing the urgency of the matter, the department has directed schools to provide the data promptly. Currently, the education system employs around 12,000 teachers with matriculation-level qualifications and over 8,000 teachers with FA qualifications.
This initiative aims to enhance workforce efficiency and raise educational standards across the system.
