Imran Khan’s Sisters and Protest Leaders Secure Bail Extension from ATC

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has granted an extension for the interim bail of Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and PTI leader Salman Akram Raja until January 18 in connection with a violent clash between PTI workers and police that took place on October 5. In addition to these bail extensions, the court also approved similar relief for Ali Imtiaz Warraich and other PTI leaders involved in the same incident.

The PTI leaders had requested bail in four separate cases related to the violent protests, and these extensions offer temporary relief while they continue to face charges linked to the unrest. The developments come amid growing tensions surrounding the political crisis in the country, as protests and violent confrontations have become central to the ongoing legal battles involving PTI figures.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan, the former prime minister and PTI founder, remains incarcerated but continues to make headlines with his political stance. He has warned of initiating a civil disobedience movement if his demands are not addressed by the authorities. Through his sister Aleema Khan, Imran has made two key demands: the immediate release of what he refers to as “political prisoners” and the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9, 2023, and the subsequent crackdown on PTI protesters on November 26.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan also addressed ongoing rumors regarding her brother’s health. She dismissed the speculation, assuring the public that Imran Khan is in good health and continues to maintain his fitness through regular exercise. Additionally, she hinted at a significant development in Imran’s political strategy, suggesting he still has “one final card” to play, although she did not elaborate further.
