The Lahore High Court (LHC) heard a petition on Thursday regarding allegations that PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif chaired Punjab government meetings. The petitioner, Mashkoor Hussain, argued that Nawaz holds no official position in the Punjab government but is leading provincial cabinet meetings. Hussain urged the court to prevent Nawaz from chairing such meetings in the future.
During the hearing, Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabir, leading a single-member bench, asked the petitioner’s counsel if Nawaz issues instructions officially. The counsel confirmed, citing a press release where Nawaz directed the provincial government on various matters. The judge requested official documents proving that these directives were issued during cabinet meetings, highlighting the need for proper documentation.
