Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated Pakistan’s largest scholarship program at Punjab University on Wednesday, designed to support the nation’s brightest students.
The event began with a Quranic recitation, followed by a performance by the GC University Music Society, featuring the national anthem and Allama Iqbal’s poetry.
In her address, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her admiration for the students of GC University and applauded their accomplishments. She also presented a Guard of Honor to scholarship recipients, performed by a disciplined police squad.
Dr. Farukh Naveed, Secretary of Higher Education, shared details about the scholarship initiative. He announced that, for the first time, students from 15 private universities in Pakistan would also be eligible for the program. Additionally, high achievers from matriculation and intermediate exams would gain access to these scholarships.
Hamna Maqsood, a scholarship recipient from the Faculty of Pharmacy, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on behalf of all students for providing this life-changing opportunity.
This scholarship program is set to empower students across Punjab by ensuring access to higher education for outstanding individuals.
