Cold, dry weather persists; fog forecasted for Punjab and Sindh

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that cold and dry weather will persist across most parts of the country, with particularly harsh conditions in the northern areas in the coming days.

Fog is expected to form in the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during the early morning and late evening, potentially affecting visibility and travel.

A continental air mass is currently driving the weather conditions across the country. Over the past 24 hours, scattered rain, wind, and thunderstorms occurred in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, Punjab, and upper Sindh, with snowfall in Kalam. Other regions have experienced cold and partly cloudy weather.

Leh recorded the lowest temperature in the country on Tuesday, dropping to -8 degrees Celsius.

Weather experts are forecasting two rain spells this December, which are expected to improve air quality and reduce disruptions caused by smog and fog.
