Peshawar Captain Sajid Khan Claims 5-Wicket Haul to Give Team 116-Run Lead Over Lahore Whites
Peshawar’s captain, Sajid Khan, took his 16th five-wicket haul as the team established a 116-run first-innings lead over Lahore Whites on the second day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s second triangular stage match at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Peshawar added 39 runs to their overnight score of 293-7, eventually being bowled out for 332 in 72 overs. In response, Sajid Khan’s impressive figures of 5-56, along with Mir Hamza’s 3-58 and Niaz Khan’s 2-36, helped Peshawar dismiss Lahore Whites for 216 in 56.3 overs.
Peshawar’s second innings got off to a rough start, slipping to 14-3 as stumps were drawn. Naseem Shah was the standout performer with two wickets for just one run in three overs.
Earlier, Sajid, who resumed his innings on 11, contributed 43 runs off 76 balls, including seven boundaries. Lahore Whites’ top-order was dismantled by Peshawar’s pacers Hamza and Niaz, leaving them at 45-3. Obaid Shahid, however, fought back with a gritty 75 off 105 balls, including 11 fours, while captain Saad Nasim added 36 runs in just 22 balls.
Peshawar’s second innings was also in trouble early on as Naseem Shah removed key batters Maaz Sadaqat and Ubaidullah cheaply, leaving Peshawar at 14-3. Peshawar will resume their second innings on day three with Nabi Gul and Sajjad Ibraheem at the crease, holding a 130-run lead with seven wickets remaining.
