Nahid Rana’s first-ever five-wicket haul in Test cricket put Bangladesh in a commanding position against the West Indies on the third day of the second Test at Sabina Park. Rana’s impressive figures of five for 61 helped bowl out the West Indies for 146, giving Bangladesh an 18-run lead.
Following this performance, Bangladesh’s top-order showed resilience, reaching 193 for five in their second innings, extending their lead to 211 with five wickets still in hand. The West Indies’ batting line-up, typically prone to collapse, managed some resistance but struggled against Bangladesh’s bowling attack.
Rana’s stellar performance was supported by Hasan Mahmud, who claimed two wickets for 19 runs. The West Indies were dismissed quickly with Keacy Carty top-scoring with 40, while captain Kraigg Brathwaite contributed 39. Bangladesh’s response in their second innings included valuable contributions from Shadman Islam (46) and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz (42).
With a total lead of 211, Bangladesh looks to secure a series-levelling victory as they enter the final two days of the match.
