Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja clarified on Tuesday that the party’s founder has not been moved from Adiala Jail to another location, dismissing rumors of his relocation. In a statement to the media, Raja explained that the founder may have been shifted to a different cell within the same facility.
Raja also addressed the recent protests, criticizing the stringent security measures imposed across Punjab on November 24, which he described as creating a curfew-like situation that hindered thousands of PTI supporters from reaching Islamabad. Despite these challenges, some demonstrators were able to travel from different cities to participate in the rally.
He condemned the treatment of PTI leaders in Punjab, emphasizing that despite facing significant hardships, it was unjust to claim they were not supporting the party.
Regarding his recent resignation, Raja confirmed he had withdrawn his decision but remained tight-lipped about the reasons, promising to provide further details in the future. His resignation had stirred controversy and raised questions about internal tensions within PTI, especially after the party’s retreat from D-Chowk during the Islamabad protest. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had previously confirmed receiving Raja’s resignation letter, fueling speculation about leadership rifts. As the party faces growing scrutiny, its members and supporters continue to face increasing pressure from authorities.
