The Punjab Traffic Police issued over 841,000 driving licenses in November 2024, as detailed in a recent performance report.
The report highlighted notable progress in license issuance across the province. Among the total, over 243,000 learner licenses were issued, along with approximately 308,000 new driving licenses. Additionally, around 284,000 licenses, including learner and regular categories, were renewed.
The spokesperson further revealed that more than 4,500 international driving licenses were issued during the month. Licensing centers in major cities operated around the clock to meet the increasing demand, according to Additional IG Traffic.
As part of a separate initiative, the Punjab Traffic Police allocated a dedicated day for issuing driving licenses to rickshaw drivers. Special driving tests for rickshaw drivers will now be held every Sunday at designated licensing centers across the province, following a meeting between Additional IG Traffic and the Secretary of Transport.
In 2023, Punjab set a record by issuing over 10 million driving licenses, a milestone celebrated by then-Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who commended the Punjab Police and PITB for their outstanding efforts.
