Internet users across Pakistan are experiencing major connectivity disruptions, impacting browsing, downloading, and media sharing. Both WiFi and mobile data services have been severely affected, preventing users from sending or receiving images, videos, and voice notes on platforms such as WhatsApp.
According to Downdetector.com, WhatsApp outages peaked around 9 am on Monday for the second consecutive day, underscoring the widespread nature of the connectivity issues.
The disruptions are particularly challenging for those who depend on stable internet access, including remote workers, freelancers, digital marketers, and students attending online classes.
IT experts warn that the ongoing internet issues are costing Pakistan billions of rupees daily, further burdening the country’s already fragile economy.
While internet outages are not uncommon in Pakistan, with sporadic disruptions occurring over recent months, there is no official explanation for the current issues. The outages follow a pattern, including disruptions during last week’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) “do-or-die” protest in Islamabad and government tests of an internet firewall in July and August, which caused widespread slowdowns and platform disruptions. Users remain frustrated and uncertain about when the services will be restored.
