Evidence has surfaced indicating that illegal Afghan nationals were involved in the recent PTI protest and were allegedly paid to instigate violence.
One detained Afghan militant, Baitullah, reportedly admitted to opening fire at police and Rangers personnel. Another arrested individual, Ibrar-ul-Haq, claimed they were promised payments of 2,000 to 3,000 rupees each by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister to target security forces. He also confessed that their gunfire led to injuries among Islamabad police officers.
Other detainees have made similar statements, suggesting a coordinated effort with external elements in the protest violence.
