Punjab, Balochistan assemblies demand PTI ban

In a major political move, the Punjab and Balochistan Assemblies have each passed resolutions calling for a ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the party of anti-state actions and inciting violence.

The Punjab Assembly resolution, introduced by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member Hina Pervaiz Butt, blamed PTI leadership, including its provincial head and the former first lady, for orchestrating attacks against the federal government. The resolution alleged that organized mobs, incited by PTI, caused widespread destruction, injured law enforcement personnel, set vehicles on fire, and damaged public property.

It further claimed that these events were part of a coordinated plot to destabilize the country, resulting in an economic loss of PKR 190 billion in a single day. PTI was labeled as an extremist group, and the resolution called for an immediate ban to maintain national stability.

In a similar move, the Balochistan Assembly, led by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, passed a joint resolution by PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), condemning PTI for fueling chaos. The resolution argued that PTI’s actions had destabilized the nation and undermined public trust in state institutions. It also accused a provincial chief minister of contributing to anti-state sentiments.

Both resolutions highlight growing demands from provincial lawmakers for strong action against PTI’s alleged disruptive activities.
