On Thursday, the Lebanese army accused Israel of repeatedly breaching a cease-fire agreement between the two sides.
The cease-fire, which came into effect on Wednesday, ended more than 14 months of conflict between the Israeli military and the Hezbollah group.
In a military statement, the Lebanese army reported multiple violations by the Israeli army on Wednesday and Thursday, including aerial incursions and artillery shelling with various weapons.
The army stated that it is closely monitoring these violations in coordination with relevant authorities, though it did not provide further details.
Early Thursday, two people were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in Markaba, located in southern Lebanon. Israeli tank fire was also reported in several areas, including Ayta al-Shaab, Bent Jbeil, Khiam, Taybe, Wazzani, and the outskirts of Kfarshouba. Israeli reconnaissance planes also conducted flights over the Tyre and Bent Jbeil districts.
According to the cease-fire terms, Israel is required to withdraw its forces south of the Blue Line de facto border in phases, while the Lebanese army will deploy forces in southern Lebanon within 60 days. The agreement’s implementation will be overseen by the US and France, though the enforcement mechanisms remain unclear.
Since the conflict began in October of last year, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have resulted in over 3,960 deaths, more than 16,500 injuries, and over 1 million people displaced, according to Lebanese health authorities.
