General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of China, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Wednesday, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
During the visit, General Zhang held a one-on-one meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, followed by delegation-level talks, as reported by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The discussions centered on shared interests, regional security, measures for stability, and enhancing defense cooperation between the two countries.
General Munir highlighted the strong and time-tested nature of the Pakistan-China relationship, emphasizing its foundation in mutual trust and cooperation. He assured that this historic partnership would continue to flourish and expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their unwavering support of Pakistan in the face of changing international and regional dynamics.
In response, General Zhang Youxia praised Pakistan’s continued commitment to their strategic partnership and commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Army in its counter-terrorism efforts. He reaffirmed China’s dedication to further strengthening the bilateral relationship.
Upon his arrival at the GHQ, General Zhang Youxia laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honor Pakistan’s martyrs. He was warmly received, with a guard of honor presented by a Pakistan Army contingent.
Separately, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with COAS General Syed Asim Munir in Islamabad on Wednesday. Their talks covered mutual interests, defense cooperation prospects, and regional security. General Munir expressed Pakistan’s appreciation for Belarus’s contributions to global and regional peace and emphasized the desire to deepen bilateral ties.
President Lukashenko acknowledged the Pakistan Armed Forces’ significant role in regional stability and their sacrifices in combating terrorism.
