Vawda foresees PTI ban, attributes party crisis to Bushra Bibi

Senator Faisal Vawda has cautioned that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) faces the risk of being banned, citing recent protests in Islamabad and internal divisions within the party. He criticized the leadership’s decisions surrounding the controversial events of May 9, raising questions about the party’s trajectory.

Vawda expressed regret over how PTI handled the protests, arguing that the decision to march toward D-Chowk, instead of opting for a peaceful rally in Sangjani, unnecessarily escalated tensions. He suggested that the party’s reputation could have been protected if a less confrontational approach had been taken, describing the unrest as “a task fit for vultures.”

In a surprising claim, Vawda accused Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, of being a significant factor in the party’s current crisis. He alleged that PTI leaders blame her for much of the turmoil, stating, “All PTI leaders believe this one woman has caused major issues for the party.” He further claimed that Bushra Bibi pushed for the march to D-Chowk but withdrew during the subsequent security crackdown, leaving protesters exposed.

Reports indicate that Bushra Bibi has been moved to an undisclosed location in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Her sister, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, confirmed the move and mentioned that communication with her has been restricted. Maryam revealed that Bushra Bibi initially resisted leaving the protest but was compelled to do so as tensions escalated.

Vawda also claimed he is actively working to protect Imran Khan, asserting that Khan’s life is endangered by those within his inner circle. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the PTI founder, vowing to safeguard his interests.

Highlighting the deepening rifts within PTI, Vawda described the party as fractured into factions of veteran members, newer leaders, and influential families. He criticized the leadership outside of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, accusing many of prioritizing personal interests while Imran Khan remains in custody.

Amid escalating tensions, authorities have pledged strict actions against detained PTI workers involved in recent protests. As the internal crisis within PTI deepens, the party’s future hangs in the balance amid these turbulent developments.
