General Zhang Youxia, the Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), visited Pakistan on Wednesday, leading a high-level delegation to the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. During the visit, General Zhang held a one-on-one meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, which was followed by delegation-level talks.
The discussions between the two military leaders centered on a range of topics including regional security concerns, measures to ensure regional stability, and the further strengthening of bilateral defense ties between Pakistan and China. General Munir highlighted the long-standing and robust nature of Pakistan-China relations, noting their deep foundation of mutual trust and cooperation. He emphasized that this strategic partnership has proven resilient through various changes in the international and regional landscapes and is set to continue expanding in the future.
General Munir also expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their unwavering support of Pakistan, regardless of global shifts. On the other hand, General Zhang Youxia conveyed China’s appreciation for Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to their strategic relationship. He praised the professionalism and dedication of the Pakistan Army, particularly in its ongoing efforts to combat terrorism. General Zhang reiterated China’s commitment to further enhancing the ties between the two nations, particularly in the defense and security sectors.
Before the meeting, General Zhang Youxia paid tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs by laying a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada. He was accorded a warm reception at the GHQ, including a guard of honor by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.
This high-level military visit underscores the strong military and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, particularly in defense cooperation and regional security.
