Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, declared on Saturday that any discussions with the government would only take place after the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. He emphasized that his party’s protest would continue until their demands were fully addressed, vowing to reach D-Chowk in Islamabad by any means necessary.
In an exclusive interview with a private TV channel, Gandapur reaffirmed his loyalty to Imran Khan, asserting that he would follow the PTI leader’s instructions without hesitation. He highlighted that PTI members would remain in Islamabad indefinitely, until the release of Imran Khan and other detained party leaders and activists.
Gandapur also took aim at the federal and Punjab governments, accusing them of overreacting to the political situation by shutting down motorways and highways. He argued that these measures were causing undue hardship for the general public and disrupting everyday life. Despite these challenges, Gandapur made it clear that PTI’s protest would remain peaceful, holding the authorities accountable for creating unnecessary barriers.
The chief minister’s comments reflect PTI’s continued determination to press for the release of their leader and a resolution to what they describe as politically motivated arrests. His statements are a clear indication that the party’s protest is likely to escalate if their demands are not met, as they focus on a peaceful yet firm stance to achieve their political goals.
Gandapur’s firm stance has set the tone for further protests, with PTI’s leadership signaling that they will not back down until their objectives are realized. The ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan suggests that the coming days could see more significant developments as the government and opposition remain at odds.
