The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a request on Tuesday seeking additional time to prepare a comprehensive report based on its ongoing investigation.
During a hearing at an accountability court presided over by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, concerning the Toshakhana vehicle reference involving several prominent political figures such as President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Yousuf Raza Gilani, among others, Deputy Prosecutor Azhar Maqbool Shah informed the court that Nawaz Sharif had requested a joint investigation. However, due to the unavailability of investigating officers, the joint investigation process has been delayed.
Shah assured the court that once the investigating officers are available, a thorough report will be compiled to determine whether a case against Nawaz Sharif can proceed.
In response to this update, the accountability court granted an extension, specifying that the report must be submitted by the next hearing.
Consequently, the court adjourned the proceedings until April 17.
It’s worth noting that according to the reference submitted by the National Accountability Bureau to the accountability court, Yousuf Raza Gilani, who was the co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) at the time, Asif Zardari (now the President of the country), and Nawaz Sharif, the supreme leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), allegedly received vehicles from the Toshakhana in violation of the law.
