At least 71 more Palestinians were killed in ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, bringing the total death toll since last year to 44,056, according to the Health Ministry in the enclave on Thursday.
The ministry reported that approximately 104,268 others have been injured during the assault.
“In the past 24 hours, the Israeli forces have carried out five massacres against families, resulting in 71 deaths and 176 injuries,” the statement said, adding that many remain trapped under rubble and on roads as rescue teams struggle to reach them.
Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued its war on Gaza, which began after a Hamas attack last year.
International condemnation of the situation in Gaza has increased in the second year of the conflict, with organizations and leaders describing the events as a deliberate effort to destroy a population. Israel now faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in Gaza.
