Police to request Imran’s physical remand in vandalism case today

The police are set to present PTI founder Imran Khan before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail on Thursday, seeking his physical remand in a vandalism case related to a PTI protest on September 27. Khan, who has been in jail for over a year, faces multiple cases, including the latest one lodged under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) for allegedly inciting violence, arson, and damaging public property during the protest. The FIR accuses Khan and several PTI leaders of terrorism, attempted murder, and obstructing government operations.

In the same court session, Khan’s bail in the Toshakhana case will be reviewed. This case involves allegations that Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, illegally kept gifts, including a jewelry set from the Saudi royal family, which were meant to be deposited in the Toshakhana during his tenure as prime minister. The anti-graft watchdog claims the national exchequer lost around Rs35.28 million due to the undervaluation of the jewelry. Both Khan and Bushra Bibi are expected to be indicted in this case.
