Punjab government issues warning against disrupting peace, pledges strict action

Punjab Information Adviser Azma Bokhari announced on Wednesday that the government will take a strong stand against any efforts to disturb public peace, stressing that such actions will be met with “an iron hand.” Speaking to the media outside the Lahore High Court (LHC), Bokhari expressed concern over the spread of misinformation, particularly on social media, and revealed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is being restructured to better handle cases, especially those involving complaints from women.

Bokhari also criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its protest expenditures, pointing out that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government allocated Rs81 million for the party’s last protest and is now seeking an additional Rs58 million for the upcoming protest in Islamabad on November 24. She accused PTI members of misusing public funds to finance their protests.

The Punjab government’s warning comes amid escalating political tensions, with authorities adopting a zero-tolerance approach to any activities that could threaten stability.
