Islamabad, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) directed the Gujrat returning officer to immediately accept the nomination papers of four candidates, including Qaisera Elahi, the wife of former Chief Minister Pervaz Elahi. The candidates had lodged complaints stating that the returning officer was absent when they tried to submit their nomination papers.
Responding to complaints from Qaisera Elahi, Parvez Elahi’s wife, and four other candidates, the election commission issued written instructions to the relevant Returning Officer of Constituency PP-32, who reportedly did not receive their nomination papers.
The seat became vacant after Chaudhry Salik Hussain retained his MNA seat. By-elections are scheduled to be held on April 21.
