In Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the crucial role played by well-educated and skilled youth in shaping the nation’s future. He reiterated the federal government’s commitment to supporting outstanding students through scholarship programs aimed at pursuing higher education at renowned global institutions.
During a meeting with Ikramullah, a ninth-grade student from Balochistan studying at Lawrence College Murree, the prime minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring quality education nationwide.
Ikramullah, originally from the flood-affected area of Qila Saifullah in 2022, had the opportunity to receive education at one of the country’s esteemed educational institutions. Shehbaz Sharif recalled encountering the determined student at the Khasnoob camp in Qila Saifullah during the devastating floods.
He assured Ikramullah of continued access to quality education, expressing satisfaction that the student was now enrolled at Lawrence College.
In response, Ikramullah expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the opportunity to meet him and for his support. He congratulated the prime minister and prayed for his well-being, expressing determination to achieve his goals and serve the country in the future. The prime minister advised Ikramullah to serve the nation diligently by focusing on his studies and working hard.
Shehbaz Sharif assured the student that all his educational expenses would be covered by the government, emphasizing that students represent the future and hope of the nation. He noted the positive transformation in Ikramullah’s demeanor, recalling that during his visit to the flood-affected area, the student was in a state of protest but now showed noticeable progress.
The prime minister highlighted initiatives in Punjab where high-achieving students were sent to prestigious European and Scandinavian countries for education, resulting in their return with enhanced confidence and skills.
Additionally, the prime minister welcomed the principal and house master of Lawrence College and presented gifts to Ikramullah, including a pen and tablet, to aid him in his studies. Ikramullah, in turn, presented a set of books to the prime minister. Shehbaz Sharif personally bid farewell to the student from the Prime Minister’s House.
