Reports about Aamir Khan’s retirement from acting have been misunderstood and outdated. In a recent interview, Khan revealed that he quietly retired a few years ago but made a comeback after his family encouraged him not to abandon his career. Khan had initially decided to quit after the release of Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022, citing the personal realization that he had dedicated much of his adult life to cinema, neglecting his relationships with family and loved ones. However, after his children encouraged him to find balance, Khan returned to acting.
Khan also emphasized that his decision to retire had nothing to do with the reception of Laal Singh Chaddha. Instead, he wanted to focus on supporting and mentoring emerging talent, including writers, directors, and musicians. His company, Aamir Khan Productions, is now led by Aparna Purohit, allowing him to focus more on his creative endeavors.
Khan’s goal for the next decade is to use his platform to uplift new voices in cinema, as seen with his film Laapataa Ladies, which has been submitted as India’s official entry to the Oscars. By helping new talent, Khan aims to contribute to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema.
