Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to face indictment in New Toshakhana case

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife, Bushra Bibi, are set to be indicted in a new Toshakhana case on November 18.

A special court of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) announced the indictment date and also rejected the acquittal petitions filed by the former prime minister and his wife in the case.

The court had reserved its ruling on the acquittal pleas on November 8.

This case involves allegations of the illegal sale of a jewelry set that was gifted to Bushra Bibi by the Saudi crown prince during Imran Khan’s tenure as prime minister from 2018 to 2022.

It should not be confused with the earlier Toshakhana case, in which the couple was sentenced to 14 years in prison and fined Rs1.57 billion (Rs787 million each) in January. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended their sentence in the first case in April.
