CM directs overhaul of health units by December 31

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a deadline of December 31 for the completion of the revamping of all health centers across the province.

An official statement reveals that the project to revamp and rehabilitate 1,236 health centers in Punjab is in full progress.

The chief minister announced that the deteriorating health centers would be transformed into temporary clinics.

The revamping initiative includes 286 health centers in central Punjab, 363 in the north zone, and 587 in South Punjab.

To date, 20% of centers in central Punjab, 28% in the north zone, and over 25% in South Punjab have been completed.

Maryam Nawaz further mentioned, “The transformation of 1,219 health centers into family clinics is advancing rapidly, with 772 units undergoing plastering, 384 units having flooring done, and 74 units in the finishing stage.”

She emphasized that basic health centers would be upgraded to modern clinics, and efforts would be made to address the shortage of doctors and other staff.

“We will build clinics in Punjab’s villages that will surpass the quality of private hospitals in cities,” she affirmed. The chief minister added that providing excellent health services at people’s doorsteps would ease the burden on major hospitals.

She directed the relevant authorities to ensure the highest construction standards in the revamping of these health centers.
