On World Pneumonia Prevention Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized the importance of preventing pneumonia, especially among children and the elderly, who are most vulnerable to the disease.
In her message, she highlighted the alarming fact that pneumonia causes millions of deaths among children and the elderly each year worldwide. She stressed the importance of vaccination for children under five to protect them from this deadly illness.
The Chief Minister also underlined the significance of early diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia to control its spread and reduce fatalities. She called for greater awareness about pneumonia prevention and treatment, urging that it be viewed as a shared responsibility.
She concluded by advising special care for children’s health during the colder months, as the risk of pneumonia increases in winter, and called for focused efforts to prevent the disease during this time.
