Grand Horse and Cattle show comes to a close

The three-day Horse and Cattle Show, the first of its kind in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s history, concluded in grand style.

The closing ceremony, held on the final day at Colonel Sher Khan Stadium in Peshawar, was attended by K-P Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Fakhar Jihan and Minister for Public Health Engineering Pakhtunyar Khan. The cabinet members presented trophies and cash prizes to the winning participants, joined by DI Khan Mayor Sardar Umar Amin Khan Gandapur, K-P Sports Secretary Matiullah Khan, Sports Director General Abdul Nasir, Merged Districts Director Raziullah, Operations Director Naematullah, Deputy Director Jamshed Baloch, and other notable figures.

On the event’s final day, the cultural festival saw exciting tent pegging competitions, along with horse and cattle races, pigeon racing, traditional games, music performances, art exhibitions, folk dances, poetry readings, dog shows, and a vintage car exhibition.

Around 1,000 horses participated in the tent pegging contest, and other traditional games included kabaddi, wrestling, camel racing, camel dancing, dog racing, and more than 16 other competitions.

The Horse and Cattle Show at Sher Khan Stadium in Peshawar attracted large crowds throughout the three-day event. Cultural music performances entertained attendees, including women, children, and young people. Artists and bands captivated the audience with their amazing performances, delighting fans.

Various food and display stalls drew attention, while renowned singers brought the event to a close with a late-night musical performance, adding to the celebration.

During the ceremony, Syed Fakhar Jihan emphasized that the Horse and Cattle Show was a significant event for the province, organized by the current provincial government. He noted, “The government’s goal is to revive traditional cultural games and festivals, which are a vital part of our historical identity.”
